Let us think of education as the means of developing our greatest abilities, because in each of us there is a private hope and dream which, fulfilled, can be translated into benefit for everyone and greater strength for our nation. John F. Kennedy U.S. President

Making an A is a worthy goal.  Make it yours.

If you are in 6th grade pre-algebra, 7th grade algebra 1 or 8th grade algebra 2 then you definitely are in an elite situation - a year ahead of the honors classes - and therefore you should definitely be thinking "A."

Here's how:

1) Keep notes and review them often.  If you are absent, seek out a responsible student and ask to copy their notes.  You might find this helpful even if you are not absent.

2) When I give a test or quiz back, go back through it and figure out anything you missed.  We often revisit topics.

3) Show up regularly and be prepared with your materials.  When you show up unprepared you send a message that indicates a lack of concern.

4) Don't treat the assignments as busy-work - I don't believe in busy-work and won't give you any.  Practice is important.

5) See me.  If you want further guidance, we can set out a plan for you.
