Algebra 1 Honors 7th grade or 8th grade

In Volusia County, courses are structured by Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and associated benchmarks. We divide the course by Essential Questions. 

Here are essential questions for algebra:

• Can the student use various methods to solve and manipulate equations?
• Can the student explain the meaning of the slope of a line and the equation of a line?
• Can the student recognize and represent linear functions in table, graph, and equation form?
• Can the student generate a linear model to describe or solve a problem, including real life situations?
• Can the student write and solve a system of linear equations or inequalities, including real life situations?
• Can the student represent and describe functions?
• Can the student apply the properties of exponents to simplify polynomial expressions?
• Can a student perform arithmetic operations on radical expressions?
• Can the student solve and graph quadratic equations and functions?
• Can a student perform arithmetic operations on rational expressions?
• Can the student identify the characteristics of rational functions?
• Can the student use appropriate language arts and mathematics strategies to achieve success in mathematics?
