Algebra 2 honors
Algebra 2 Honors is a difficult course for a middle school student. This represents the second high school credit since algebra 1 honors is a pre-requisite.
In Volusia County, courses are structured by Florida's Next Generation Sunshine State Standards and associated benchmarks. We divide the course by Essential Questions.
Here are the first essential questions:
Can students apply the concept of slope toward modeling real-world problem solving?
Can students make use of various methods when solving problems involving linear systems?
Can students use systems of inequalities to investigate possible solutions and arrive at a conclusion that optimizes within the constraints?
Can students use algebraic methods of solving quadratic equation to identify roots, zeros and intercepts involving both real and non-real solutions?
Can students recognize what the elements of a parabola represent and its relationship to the equation?
Can students interpret and analyze the graphs of polynomials?
Can students use algebraic operations to simplify polynomials?
Can students interpret and analyze the graphs of radical functions?
Can students use the properties of rational exponents to evaluate the nth roots of real numbers?
Can students use algebraic reasoning to apply and solve radical equations in relation to real-world problems?
Can students apply combination, composition and inverses of functions to explore and explain real-world situations?
Can students use the properties of logarithms and exponential functions when presented with relevant problems toward solving equations?
Can students identify logarithmic and exponential relationships from a graph and create models from real-life data?
