Math 2 advanced: 7th grade What is pre-algebra?
In Volusia county we structure courses by Florida's Next generations Sunshine State Standards and associated benchmarks.
We divide the course by Essential Questions.
Here are Essential Questions for the first grading period (and into the second) for the math 2 adv course:
Using rational numbers, can the student apply all mathematical operations and understand their context?
Our work will include:
write numbers in decimal form, as fractions, and as percents
solve problems involving mathematical thinking and practical issues
add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers, fractions and decimals using proper order of operations
work with expressions and evaluation of expressions
formulas, including basic geometry of perimeter and circumference, area, volume
Exponential notation Percent converting fractions and decimals 7th grade FCAT sample test (2.0)
pre algebra sample questions rates and proportions
greatest common factor least common multiple prime factorization
Introduction to rules for using exponent
